Antique News Returns

Back for Another Season
After taking a break for a few months, Canadian Antique News returns for the Fall season with all the latest Antique, Fine Art and Auction news available on the internet. We hope to provide this news, all of it with a Canadian angle, in one easy-to-access digest form.

Changes at Flamboro Show
After a year of what must be disapointing attendance numbers, poor weather, and rumoured conflicts with venue management (most notably with the Kelso Conservation Area), the management of the Flamboro Antique Shows has announced that they are shifting all of their shows to Aberfoyle, beginning in 2005, for a total of 5 shows. This brings to an end the show's relationship with both Kelso and the Barrie show hosts. The last show of 2004 is the "Mittens Show" at Aberfoyle ths coming Saturday, Oct 30th.

Rumours Swirl Around Christie Show
Rumours spread like wildfire this past season about the fate of Canada's most popular antique show at the Christie Conservation Area. After floating a proposal to sell shares in the show seemed to evaporate, it was next rumoured that the Show had been sold and was now solely in the possession of the Gadsden family. No official announcement has been made to the public, however. Coming in tandem with the recent Flamboro show changes, this "news" seems to spell hard times for the consumer antique market in Ontario.
